every time a woman in pop releases a new album, I listen to it and it's two hours of her talking about how the way that society expects her to perform led to men taking advantage of her and abusing her and then I go online and it is hundreds of takes about her being selfish and stupid and overdramatic and how she's asking for her treatment

and no this is not just about Taylor Swift. I have seen this happen to Taylor Swift, to Halsey, to Olivia Rodrigo, I'm watching it happen in real time with a small-ish gay pop artist Chrissy Chlapecka (who makes amazing music btw, go listen to her!). If a woman releases a song about finding herself attractive or wanting to dance and have fun and you say that that makes her basic and therefore acceptable to dislike, that's just misogynistic rhetoric. If a woman releases a song about how the entertainment industry requires her to maintain a specific image or have her career suffer and you say that smaller artists suffer more or that she has no right to be complaining or that she's not even a good artist anyway, that's just misogynistic rhetoric.

I'm getting a little tired of female artists being held to such high standards that even them openly discussing abuse gets mocked. This doesn't make you more intelligent or less susceptible to capitalism, it just makes you sound misogynistic.

2025 is gonna mark a new multi fandom era for my blog

#have been pretty focused on bsd for 2 years #but wha anime in 2025 #and trc graphic novel #I’m gonna be in the trenches #it will be such a good time I can’t wait #I used to watch multiple anime in simulcast back in the day and read a lot of ongoing manga #so my blog used to be a lot more diverse than it’s now #hopefully I’ll be able to draw more stuff outside bsd because aside from that one Qifrey fanart I have only drawn bsd for 2 years #my brain just can’t draw anything else #(well I have another creative outlet for wha rn so it’s okay… but still hopefully inspiration is gonna hit)

5. favorite little detail in a drawing you did

this one was kind of hard to answer because i lean so much more to simplification over 1:1 detail... that said, i really loved these ones!

the bag from the top photo is from here, minato nui on left is from some con-related draws, the ballpoint splatling on right is from a vintage draws compilation!

i just really enjoy drawing little objects and props, and as much as i'm allergic to backgrounds, i hope to overcome that next year because my friends know i love getting obsessed over random objects for a few days...

9. any new art mediums youve tried (or overall styles if you havent tried new mediums)

i haven't gotten to do much mediums outside of digital art unfortunately.... but i would say this year was the year of chibification! i turned so many characters into little guys this year (shoutout to the nui tree!). which is really ironic because i also realized this year i find full illustrations more satisfying to work on throughout the process, despite the "simplicity" of chibis.

i did some limited color styles too! (blue, purple, and red + b/w). hopefully i can do more deliberate color palette stuffs though. i think it'd be a great exercise.

stylistically wise i think i could've tried more, but. its ok! thats what 2024 is for. yipee!

16. favorite piece of art from someone else (if you have one)

it feels like a cop out answer to say this but any gift art i got of my splatoon character... LOL... i didn't expect to get so attached to him (i changed my name in game to minatoast a JOKE!!!!). um. drops this gallery link here and scuttles away. im so very grateful. you're telling me people actually took time out of their day to draw my little guy? incredible!

ocs aside, i'd like to take the time to highlight some art from people on twitter (kitaro havers rise up!), since i do consider the things i reblog to be art i'm very fond of...

this art from tin of ryomina with flowers is so. oh my god. i was SO BEWILDERED AND HAPPY!!! i was minding my own business and then saw this rt'd on one of my friend's pages... i forget who lol but i was like "WAIT TIN Kick_TheeCan DREW RYOMINA??? I LOVE THEIR ART OF THE P3 PROTAG WHAT." i feel like i got pushed down a staircase in tartarus (positive)

i have no idea how to get there organically, and i've started and deleted various open starters trying to get to that point bc it just felt incorrect having it happen out of the blue, but. i really think it would be nice to one day have bj be told, or realize, that he isn't broken or made wrong.

even post-canon when he's free and living happier and healthier, finding his footing, he lives thinking he's a broken thing. because he has a complicated sense of gender identity and sexuality, and complicated emotions and responses to intimacy, and, oh, the almost brainwashed into him idea that his hurt is punishment, it's penance, it's "deserved". that some people, anyone, "deserves" this or "deserves" that, good and bad.

idk. it would hurt and i don't think he would believe them after 1 example, i think he'd actually be kind of resistant to it in the flighty way he can be, but it would be nice for someone to tell him he's not broken or unlovable. lost? yeah. more than i think he wants to see, even after he's free, but not broken as in wrong.

#he has expressed multiple times lately that he's afraid he's not made for lasting love. he's felt very wrong in himself and who he is and #generally really unsteady. very keyed up and in the mood to run before things get comfortable. maybe bc things *are* already comfortable.#nathan gets this feeling a lot too which i think is interesting. it's a sort of frightened self-destruction.#nathan has outlets though (unhealthy ones but... but outlets) in drugs and sex and vandalism.#bj post-canon wants to try to stay sober and one-night stands are possible but i think he'd feel v unsatisfied after if not triggered #and vandalism isn't really his thing. he's not much of a ''break things'' when he has too many feelings and nowhere to put them.#restless restless restless. raw raw raw. lost lost lost. and unsure where to turn.#out of fairy tales [ooc];
